Description

HP2DXF reads Hewlett Packard's plot file format (HPGL and HPGL/2) and converts plotter commands into AutoCAD's DXF file format. This program is ideal for converting plot files generated by almost any CAD or drawing package into DXF. Almost every CAD, CAE, illustration and DTP program can output HPGL. This makes HPGL a convenient neutral file useful for moving data across otherwise incompatible programs. While much "intelligence" is lost, the basic lines are preserved.

Platforms Supported

  • Windows
  • Extra effort has been made to support plot files from various sources. Filters have been added to remove extraneous control characters when copying files from magnetic tape or moving them accross platforms. Additional routines have been added to support some HPGL constructs that do not conform directly to the published HPGL definitions.

HP2DXF writes out the simplest possbile DXF file format insuring that virtually every program capable of reading DXF can read our files.

    Features

    • Univeral transfer from almost any CAD system to AutoCAD DXF
    • Robust front end handles most HPGL and HPGL/2 commands
    • Tested with plot files from over 100 sources

    • Automatic Linetype to Layer mapping
    • Recognizes fractured circles and creates true circles in DXF
    • Supports HPGL strings of text
    • User settable scale factor
