ASM 600 has been design to offer the same functionality as the Gerber postprocessor available on the industry standard Calma GDSII workstation. Polygons can be filled automatically without using inefficient scanning techniques. Apertures are chosen from a user defined list. This results in a much smaller file size than if a simple scan fill with a single aperture were used.
A multiple aperture fill algorithem accurately fills each boundary with less draw commands than a single aperture fill. Around the edge of each boundary a very small aperture is used to minimize corner rounding. Larger apertures are used in the interior. The program automatically moves the strokes in by 1/2 diameter so that the filled figure (b) has the same overall dimensions as the boundary (a)
